"May you have the hindsight to know where you've been, the foresight to know where you are going, and the insight to know when you have gone too far". - Irish blessing
This summer it is a year since I came to St. John's and honestly it feels as if it was yesterday. In evaluating my first year, I used the above Irish blessing. There have been many new ideas implemented at our Soup Kitchen. One was the Thanksgiving Prayer Service and sit-down dinner outside. That was awesome! This past winter, due to the brutal temperatures, we decided to open our Church and serve our meals inside. From that experience, another idea came forth, to open a new dining hall for the men since we already have one for women and children.
Seeing the men eat outside in all kinds of weather broke my heart and so we decided to take the Annex of the Church, fix it up and make it ready by September of this year to begin serving our meals indoors.
So this is where we were and where we are going at St. John's and all because of the generosity of our many doers and donors. In truth, we would not be able to accomplish all we do without their help.
We will let you know the date of the Grand Opening of our men's dining hall and hope you can join us.
